Active and Passive voice in English Grammar

Voice : is the form of verb which indicates whether a person or a thing does something or something has been done to a person or a thing.

When the subject of a sentence performs the verb’s action, we say that the sentence is in the active voice.

Sentences in the active voice have a strong, direct, and clear tone.

Here are some short and straightforward examples of active voice.

Active voice : when a verb form shows that the subject has done something , it is known as active voice . Ex. You wrote a letter.

Passive voice : when a verb form shows that something has done to the subject , it is known as Passive voice.

Ex. - A letter is written by You.

O V S

You We can begin a sentence either with the subject or object . This fact decides whether a sentence is active or passive.

Examples of Active and Passive Voice

Padma Sings a song - A song is sung by Padma

He Plays Football Football is played by him.

They will Inform You about It. You will be Informed about it by them.

Rekha was singing a song ( was/were Being ) A song was being sung by rekha.

I have been Asking You Since Morning

You have been being Asked by me since Morning
